So for the few of our that are gamers from the mid to early 90's, and to the gamers who are from the 80's and prior, We live in a day and age where companies no longer take risks almost all modern games are the same as semi old ones just with a new splash of paint on it. I myself am a gamer from the mid 90's. Games were more fun back then, they were exciting, they were unsure, we never really knew what we go until we played it and loved it.
Skip ahead several years, We currently live in a age where almost all "action adventure games" are essentially beat em ups and hack and slash. Games aren't called classified the way they used to be, and that's mostly because the genre's (companies) haven't been risky enough to stick to the older roots, Why make a game that's a straight beat em up ( I know there are a few Indie games that are straight beat em ups, such as 99Vidas) Lets just be safe and make a genre that we all know will work, a FPS with generic hand guns and shotties and machine guns. Risks aren't taken.
Now This year has been a wonderful year (for me personally) I grew up playing Crash Bandicoot, he was my hero of sorts. Vicarious Visions have completely remade it and I love it, Infact everyone loves it. This was the game i've been waiting for it has all those memories of childhood mashed up with HD graphics.
Then we got Sonic Mania, Another wonderful game. While its not a remake it is a continuation of the original, using the same style, Its Classic.
For me personally I love these remake/rehash/remastered games, There isnt anything really in the market out that that peaks my interest anymore, All of the interesting games from the past because they tried new things.
In latest news Fear Effect was annouced to be remade as well.

This is yet again another old game thats getting the HD treatment, I for one LOVE the idea, sure they could break it, but they could also fix it thanks to DLC and internet updates. WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!
What's your favorite oldie that you wish had a HD treatment?
